Low Carb: Candida Albicans

Most of you have probably never heard of candida albicans, and those of you who have more than likely have had to deal with this issue personally. Candida albicans is a Latin term for a type of yeast that grows in the human body. This is a systemic yeast infection as opposed to a topical yeast infection that would appear on the surface of the body.

Systemic means that this particular strand of yeast lives in humans, and it lives by eating sugar. As most bread bakers know, yeast feeds on sugar, and candida is no exception. People who are infected with candida albicans will feel run down, tired and have intense insatiable sugar cravings–thats the yeast talking.

Candida albicans can survive undiagnosed in the human body for years. One of the major problems it creates though, is the inability to lose weight. Candida can cause its host to crave sugar to such an extent that avoiding it just isnt a possibility. Sugar intake causes insulin levels to spike, which in turn causes the body to hold on to its storehouse of fat, i.e. energy.

Rid Your Body of Candida Albicans

You can get rid of candida albicans. All you have to do is stop eating the things that feed it, e.g. sugar, grains, pasta, dairy, etc. If you do this for about three months you will effectively kill the candida, and thus make dieting and weight loss much easier. Talk to your doctor about candida albicans, and seek out a eating program that works for your lifestyle and your particular needs.
